It's in the blood.

I promise that I will tell you all about the wonders of the UK Ravelry day last week but in the meantime here is the proof that I come from a long line of fleece wranglers.

The shearer is my father's grandfather who was a shepherd for all of his life as were at least two of his sons. Dad sent me an email this evening bursting with family snaps. I love the way that technology can keep us in touch with our ancestors.

How wonderful to have that photo! I recently saw someone shear with hand clippers for the first time (I mean it was a first for me; he had been doing it for 40 years). Anyway, it's a very impressive skill.

It's good to see old action shots like this - so many family photos were taken in the studio and don't give much away about the everyday lives of the sitters.

Wow what a magical photo! It is lovely you have photos of your ancestors and to show what they were doing as a job not just dressed in Sunday best!

What a fabulous photograph! Yes, you've got lanolin in your veins. =D (I remember my father taking me, when I was a little girl, out to a shepherd's house somewhere near Auchterarder. The shepherd made Dad a beautiful hand~carved crook.)

Somehow I missed this post.
My great-grandmother was a sherherdess. I am more and more convinced that we are related somehow.
